Save our Strays

Two rescued Collies

These two lovely collies Flossie and Lassie came into our care following the death of their owner. We have now found them a lovely permanent foster home and they have a pension plan so vet fees will be paid by S.O.S

Save our Strays is typical of smaller volunteer organisations around the UK.   Founder Margaret Young has gathered together a small group of volunteers in the Redcar, Guisboroug and  Middlesbrough area of North East England.

All are dedicated animal lovers who have joined forces to rescue and help re home dogs from the local dog pound and from local council Social Services where the owners may have died or are facing ill health or other difficulties.

The group does not have premises of its own so all dogs are placed with foster homes or in private kennels until new owners can be found. It is totally reliant on donations and fund raising - not easy in these difficult financial times.

All dogs being re-homed are neutered, vaccinated, wormed and micro-chipped. In the case of older dogs which are more difficult to place with loving families, the cost of all health care is guaranteed for the life of the animal - a remarkably generous practice.

More information and contact details can be found on the Save our Strays website.

Note:

If you have have a favourite Care or Rescue Centre - anywhere in the world - why not suggest they contact us and we will include their details on our site.  This service is free of course.

Please note that we do need them to contact us. We will not publish their details without permission and we have found it too time consuming to try locating the appropriate spokesperson for voluntary organisations.
